On Aug. 5, Missouri voters will have an opportunity to decide on Constitutional Amendment 7, a ballot measure to temporarily raise the sales tax by ¾ of a cent with all proceeds going toward needed transportation improvements statewide. As part of the amendment’s provisions, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission was required to publish a list of transportation projects and improvements prior to the election so Missourians can see what their tax dollars would fund. MoDOT has also scheduled public meetings around the state to answer questions about the list and take public comment.

The project and priorities list, public meeting schedule and comment forms can be found on the website -

Safer Roads Heading

Watch for Motorcycles

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety wants to remind motorists and motorcyclists alike to “Watch for Motorcycles” to help prevent motorcycle crashes, deaths and injuries on Missouri’s roadways.

Very often, drivers of cars and trucks don't see motorcycles until the last second, or sometimes not at all. Motorcycle operators have to anticipate the moves of other drivers and be extra cautious of road conditions and debris.

According to reports, 45 motorcycle fatalities occurred between January 1 and June 17 this year. This compares to 35 during that same timeframe in 2013. Fourteen of those fatalities happened between June 1 and June 17, compared to 7 during the same timeframe last year.

Be careful, obey the laws and watch out for motorcycles - Motorcycles.

directory2014-2015 Missouri Airport Directory Now Available
Provides Quick Reference to 124 Missouri Public-Use Airports

The 2014-2015 Missouri Airport Directory is now available. The directory offers aerial photographs and detailed descriptions of all 124 Missouri public-use airports. It includes information specific to the landing facility as well as local area attractions and services.

"The directory provides useful information for a pilot to plan a flight and to know how to communicate with a particular airport," said MoDOT Administrator of Aviation Amy Ludwig. "Because airport conditions are constantly changing, this information is not to be used for navigation."

Design/Build Team Selected for Route 60 Rogersville Project

Recently, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission selected Ozark Regional Road Constructors (ORRC) to design and build improvements to Route 60 in Rogersville.

Four teams were vying for the contract that includes upgrading Route 60 to a freeway through Rogersville and the construction of two interchanges - one at Routes B/VV where it intersects with Route 60 and one in the vicinity of Farm Road 253 east of Business 60. This project is MoDOT's seventh design build project.

ORRC is a joint venture of engineering and construction firms that have designed the project and will construct it with oversight from MoDOT engineers. The team includes: Radmacher Brothers Excavating Company, Inc; Reynolds, Smith & Hills, Inc.; and CFS Engineers; with Palmerton & Parrish, Inc.; TREKK Design Group, LLC; and Hg Consult, Inc.

Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in the fall with completion in December 2016. For more details, visit the project website - Project Freeway: U.S. 60 Rogersville

snooperInspectors Snoop Under Bridges to Check Conditions

An under bridge inspection unit, also known as a snooper truck, is an odd looking vehicle that causes many who see it do a double take. On May 27, spectators at Table Rock Lake in Branson did just that.

While they were watching from the lake front, dam observatory and occasionally from idling boats, a four-man MoDOT crew assisted the Army Corps of Engineers in the inspection of the dam. Read more on MoDOT's blog -
