Missouri Celebrates 50th Interstate Anniversary

New Web Site Details History, Gives Fun Facts

Missouri can stake several claims to having the nation’s first interstate highway, having awarded contracts for work on U.S. Routes 66 and 40 – now Interstates 44 and 70 - on Aug. 2, 1956.

Employees Join Highway Watch Program

With millions of highway miles, numerous bridges, overpasses and other potential terrorist targets in the United States, the Highway Watch program helps transportation workers protect these resources. Buckle Up in Your Truck -
Regional Campaign to Increase Safety Belt Use

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety has joined with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska to launch an aggressive new public awareness initiative called Buckle Up In Your Truck. Efforts in Missouri will include increased enforcement and an education campaign from May 7-14. Buckle Up

No MOre Trash! Bash Cleans Up Missouri

Less trash on our roadsides and in our streams and rivers, as well as educating the public about the real cost of litter, was the goal of the second annual No MOre Trash! Bash, sponsored by MoDOT and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Thousands of volunteers joined together to clean up Missouri during the month of April for the No MOre Trash! Bash. No MOre Trash!

MoDOT Paricipates in 2006 Earth Day 

MoDOT was one of several state agencies that participated in the Missouri Earth Day celebration April 21 at the Capitol in Jefferson City. Thousands of students and other visitors flocked to the celebration, sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources. Earth Day
