2008-2012 Statewide Highway & Bridge Construction Schedule
The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the week of July 7-11, 2008. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected. Motorists should also be aware that mowing has started on various routes throughout the central Missouri area.
MoDOT reminds the public to buckle up, slow down, follow posted signing and drive safely through work areas. For more information about a project, please contact MoDOT at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (275-6636).

Boone County
Overnight/Daylight Hours
Route 63, Gans Road Interchange, south of Route AC in Columbia – Interchange construction. Excavation work continues. Construction will take place on the bridge deck over Route 63 as weather permits. Motorists should be advised the north and southbound lanes are narrowed to eleven feet. Other lane closures are possible throughout the work.
* Motorists can expect periodic lane closures in the northbound lanes of Route 63 24-hours a day Monday, July 7, through Wednesday, July 9, weather permitting. The lane closures will allow the contractor to continue paving ramps for the interchange.
* Ponderosa Street, north of Gans Road, is permanently closed.
* The intersection of Gans Road and Ponderosa Street is also closed to all traffic. The
intersection is expected to reopen at the end of July. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to reach their destinations.
The project is expected to be complete in late 2008.
Route 163 between Hinkson Creek and Champions Drive – By permit, construction of a right turn lane on the northbound lanes will begin on Monday, July 7. Due to the nature of the work, one northbound lane will be closed to traffic 24-hours a day for approximately three weeks. The new turn lane is in conjunction with the Mick Deaver Drive Extension through the University of Missouri-Columbia properties.

I-70 eastbound exit ramp at Business Loop 70 in Columbia – Guardrail repairs will take place Tuesday, July 8. Due to the nature of the repairs, the left turn lane may be restricted or closed during the early morning hours.
I-70 at the Route O and Route J Interchange (117.8-mile marker)
I-70, one mile west of Route Z Interchange (131.8-mile marker)
I-70, ½ mile west of the Route J and Route DD Interchange (136.6-mile marker) – Guard cable repairs will take place Tuesday, July 8, at the 131.8 and 136.6 mile markers. The contractor will continue on Wednesday, July 9, at the 117.8-mile marker. Due to the nature of the work, one westbound lane will be restricted in each location.
Route 763 between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road in Columbia – Roadway widening.
* The roadway between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road is narrowed to ten feet.
* Utilities continue to be relocated in various locations.
* Construction of the roundabout continues at Prathersville Road. The intersection is now a four-way stop with temporary stop signs installed.
* Brown School Road at Route 763 is closed to traffic and will remain closed until early September. Construction of a new box culvert is underway on Brown School Road just west of Route 763. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. * North and southbound Route 763 traffic between Big Bear Blvd. and Blue Ridge Road
has been shifted to new driving surfaces.
* The dedicated left turn lanes for north and southbound traffic on Route 763 at Blue Ridge Road are now straight through lanes. Motorists should consider using an alternate route to avoid potential lengthy delays if needing to access Blue Ridge Road by making a left turn. This new configuration will stay in place through the duration of the project.
* The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph throughout the work zone.
The project is expected to be complete by August 2009.
Route 63 just north of the Callaway County line – Crews will clean the rock cut area along the northbound lanes Tuesday, July 8, and Wednesday, July 9. One northbound lane will be open each day.

Callaway County
Daylight Hours
I-70, approximately two miles west of Route A and Route Z Interchange (152.8-mile marker)
I-70 just east of Route M and Route HH Interchange (144.6-mile marker) – Guard cable and guardrail repairs will take place Tuesday, July 8. Due to the nature of the work, one westbound lane will be restricted in each location.

Camden County
Overnight/Daylight Hours
Route 5 from two miles south of the Niangua Bridge to Route 7 – New roadway, interchanges and bridges. Grading, drainage measures and placement of base rock for new roadway in the area approximately two miles south of the Niangua Bridge.
* Erosion control will take place throughout the project area.
* Construction will continue on superstructure of the northbound Route 5 bridge over School Road.
* Excavation continues at the connection between Lake Rd. 5-84 and 5-89.
* Material will continue to be hauled to the south end of the project during the overnight hours. Motorists should be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting Route 54 just east of the new Route 5 overpass from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, July 6, through Thursday, July 10. Minor traffic delays are expected on Route 54.
Traffic on Route 5 is not affected at this time. The project is expected to be complete by fall 2008.
Daylight Hours
Route 54 Expressway, between Business 54 south and the Grand Glaize Bridge in Osage Beach – Grading, paving and new bridge construction. Retaining wall construction continues between Fish Hatchery Road and the Passover Road area. Excavation, rock removal and drainage work will take place between the Grand Glaize bridge and the Outlet Mall area. Motorists using Passover Road should be aware of construction vehicles crossing the roadway. Temporary traffic signals are currently in place on Passover Road to assist with traffic. Traffic on Route 54 is not affected at this time. The project will be complete by 2010.
Route 5 between Route 54 and Route 7 – Crews will clean up brush along the shoulder in various locations Monday, July 7, through Wednesday, July 9. One lane in each location will be open to traffic.
Route 5 between Old Route 5 and south of Route P in Laclede County – Shared four-lane highway. Excavation and drainage work continues on the north end of the project. Traffic on Route 5 is not affected at this time. This portion of the project is expected to be complete in 2010.

Overnight/Daylight Hours
Route W, Spring Creek Bridge – Motorists should be aware that the 10-ton weight limit remains in place on the bridge.
Daylight Hours
Route 50/63 at City View – Interchange construction. Crews continue removing rock on the north side of the roadway. Both east and westbound Route 50/63 traffic will be stopped for short intervals periodically to blast rock.
* Temporary concrete barrier is installed on both east and westbound shoulders at City View.
* Work continues on the new overpass bridge in the median of Route 50 at City View along with the interchange and ramps. Blasting will continue and traffic on east and westbound Route 50/63 could be stopped for short periods of time.
* City View Drive at Route 50/63 is now open to traffic. The interchange will be open to traffic by the end of 2008.
Route 50 between Henwick Lane west of Route T in Cole County and Route K in Moniteau County – Grading, paving and drainage work for new four-lane highway. Concrete paving and seeding and mulching continues. Motorists accessing Route U at Route 50 should be advised of possible delays as paving continues. Traffic on Route 50 is not affected at this time.

Daylight Hours
Route 100 between Route Z and Route 50 – Roadway maintenance will take place in various locations Monday, July 7, through Thursday, July 10. One lane will be open to traffic in various locations.

Pettis County
Overnight/Daylight Hours
Route 65 between the Saline County line to Route D and Route J – Concrete replacement will continue in various locations in the southbound lanes. To allow the concrete to cure properly, one southbound lane will be closed to traffic 24-hours a day in each location.
Daylight Hours
Route 50 and Route 65 in Sedalia – Intersection improvements. Work will continue to modify the existing intersection by creating additional turn lanes, installing new traffic signals and constructing median islands. One lane in each direction on each route will be open to traffic. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes as delays may be possible. The project will be complete in late summer 2008.
