Mo SafeStat

MO SafeStat is a Missouri intrastate selection system to choose motor carriers for Compliance Reviews. The MO SafeStat program closely mirrors the Federal SafeStat program, and evaluates a carriers' safety fitness. This selection system is a major step by Motor Carrier Services in its ongoing transition toward becoming a performance-oriented agency. The MO SafeStat system effectively focuses our resources toward intrastate motor carriers that have demonstrated poor performance through roadside inspections, compliance reviews, and most importantly, commercial vehicle crashes.

MO SafeStat makes maximum use of performance and compliance data to assess motor carriers in three broad Safety Evaluation Areas (SEAs). They are the accident SEA, driver SEA, and vehicle SEA. Currently, if a motor carrier is unacceptable in any of the three SEAs, it may be targeted for an on-site Compliance Review. The selection system includes motor carriers whose scores rank in the top fifty percentile of worst performers.

Upon the completion of a Compliance Review a carrier is issued a safety rating. The rating will be satisfactory, conditional, or unsatisfactory. The Compliance Review process allows Motor Carrier Services to identify safety issues.
