JEFFERSON CITY - Ninety percent of Missouri Department of Transportation work zones are safe and efficient according to the work zone customer survey, available on MoDOT's website at http://www.modot.org/.
More than 2,000 people have provided feedback since the survey was made available last year. Feedback helps improve work zones and keep traffic moving while looking out for the safety of motorists and highway workers.
"We want to hear your good and bad feedback," said Don Hillis, director of System Management for MoDOT. "We want to know where we're doing a good job, but we also need to know where to make improvements."
Travelers have the ability to comment on specific work zones through which they have just traveled. The survey includes questions on advanced warning, speed limit, timeliness and safety.
On May 4, MoDOT received a comment from a concerned citizen about signage in a work zone on Route 50 in Lone Jack. The comment was forwarded to the area work zone coordinator, adjustments were made and a few weeks later the department received a comment on the same work zone praising workers for "doing an excellent and speedy job."
Information on work zones statewide is available on the Traveler Information Map located at www.modot.org or by calling toll-free 888-ASK-MoDOT. Motorists are asked to rate MoDOT's work zones by visiting www.modot.org and clicking on the Rate Our Work Zones button.
