MoDOT Online Map Shows Flooded Roads

JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Department of Transportation is reporting 68 state roads closed due to flooding, mostly rural routes in the northern half of the state.  In addition, the following major routes are closed or expected to close soon:

- Missouri Route 61 - Alexandria, Mo.

- U.S. 36 at Route H in Marion County, 10 miles east of Monroe City

- U.S. 24 at Grand River in Carroll County near Waverly

With more rain in the forecast, MoDOT is reminding motorists to check out its Traveler Information Map at http://www.modot.org/ to find out what highways are closed because of high water. The map is updated continually and shows the latest road conditions and closings.

Motorists can zoom in eight different ways for details across the state.  If icons are heavily stacked in a section of the map, visitors can double click on that area and the map will zoom in, automatically unstacking the icons. A text-only version that gives information by route and county is also available.  The map also provides work zone and incident information, as well as other road conditions.

In addition to the map, MoDOT offers a toll-free telephone number - 1-888-ASK-MoDOT (888-275-6636) - for motorists to call to learn more about road conditions.
