Pete
Rahn to Address
Improve
I-70 Advisory Group's Final Meeting
JEFFERSON CITY - The final
meeting of the Improve I-70 Advisory Group, Wednesday, May 4,
will be highlighted by the appearance of Pete Rahn, director of
the Missouri Department of Transportation. He's expected to thank
the members of the group for their volunteer service and answer
questions about the condition and needs of the state's transportation
system.
The meeting will be from
4-6:30 p.m. at the Columbia Activity and Recreation Center (ARC),
1701 W. Ash St.
The I-70 Advisory Group,
a group of local citizens, has met 13 times since September 2002
to assist MoDOT with its preparation of an environmental impact
statement for the Interstate 70 corridor in the Columbia area.
The document was released in draft form for public review in January,
and the public comment period closed at the end of March.
Since then, the study team
has been reviewing comments that were received from members of
the public and from state and federal agencies. Those comments
will be discussed at the upcoming meeting, as will next steps
in the planning and implementation process for improvements that
will rebuild and widen I-70 through Columbia.
The meeting is open to
the public. Members of the advisory group and the I-70 study team
will be available for interviews following the meeting. Director
Rahn's remarks will be made early on the meeting's agenda.
