Statewide Transportation Improvement Program 2009-2013

Amendment to Five-Year Transportation Program

Available for Public Review

The Missouri Department of Transportation is proposing to amend the state’s five-year transportation construction program. The proposed amendment includes 15 projects added or accelerated totaling approximately $25.770 million for highways and bridges, six projects delayed totaling approximately $26.712 million for highways and bridges and three projects totaling approximately $605,000 for multimodal operations.

A 7-day public comment period regarding the amendment begins November 21, 2008 and ends November 28, 2008. The proposed December Right of Way and Construction project amendment is attached below. Comments may be submitted via telephone to MoDOT’s customer service centers at 1-888 ASK MODOT (275-6636), email sent to TPM@modot.mo.gov, or letter addressed to Transportation Planning, Amendment Comments, P.O. Box 270, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

Following the public comment period, the comments and project amendment will be presented to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission on December 5, 2008 for consideration of approval. Proposed projects located in the metropolitan planning organizations in St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, Jefferson City, Joplin and St. Joseph are subject to discussion and approval by the appropriate metropolitan planning organization.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved the current statewide transportation improvement program in July 2008. Amendments occur due to unforeseen circumstances, changing conditions or new opportunities that require a more rapid response than can be provided by an annual update.
