2008 Innovative Researcher Achievement Award
Goes to
Library Development Project.
Dr Tom Kochtanek, University of Missouri, and transportation librarian Danielle Pollock were awarded the first Innovative Researcher of the Year award March 18 at the MoDOT Spring Research Forum on the St Louis University Campus. The winning library development project provides rapid information acquisition to support policy and operations decision making in the department.
Congratulations to Dr Kochtanek and Ms Pollock!
University researchers will be able to apply for the 2009 award before January 31st 2008, by completing the application and checklist for 2009, to be posted later. The previous application and check list are below for your information.

The MoDOT Innovative Researcher Achievement Award will recognize a university principal investigator or research team that produces exceptional, innovative, and quality transportation research. To be eligible for this award, the research project must have:
- Addressed all work plan expectations,
- Met established timeframe,
- Provided better, faster, cheaper results,
- Been implemented successfully by MoDOT,
- Provided documentation of cost savings and/or improved system performance, and
- Provided significant and notable support to MoDOT’s Mission, Values and Tangible Results.
A joint committee of MoDOT and university staff will evaluate and rank the nominations. The committee will then send its recommendations to the MoDOT’s Chief Engineer for final selection. Winners will be annouced at the annual Spring Transportation Research Forum Receptions.
