SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation's Southeast District will hold a two-day sales event in an attempt to sell its former maintenance lots in Brazeau, Delta, Marquand, Moody, Manes and Success. The properties are part of the Department's Realty to Roads program.
"These facilities are no longer needed to build, improve or maintain Missouri's highway system," said Right of Way Manager Sherry Glastetter. "Selling these properties through Realty to Roads benefits taxpayers because the funds generated are dedicated to roadway improvements."
She added that ridding of excess right of way also saves maintenance costs, reduces liability and puts the property back on the tax rolls to the advantage of local communities.
The properties will be sold through live, on-site auctions. Auctions for the Brazeau, Delta and Marquand facilities will be held on Monday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Auctions for the Moody, Manes and Success facilities will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
The parcels range in size from 3.01 to 7.91 acres and include various shop buildings. Interested parties may view photos, boundaries surveys or additional property details at www.modot.org/southeast/RealtytoRoads.htm.
Bidding will commence at the prescribed time, and no bids will be accepted prior to the live auctions. Bids must be submitted during the live auctions. Phone bids will not be accepted. All sales are subject to final approval by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The Commission reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids. The properties will be sold in "as is" condition.
