Project Update March 2007

What's the problem? 

The aging bridge on Route 164 over Elk Chute needs to be replaced. The bridge is near Rives in Dunklin County.

What's the solution? 

MoDOT will replace the Elk Chute bridge and make improvements to two smaller bridges on either side.  The Elk Chute Bridge will be built on a new alignment, so traffic will continue to use the existing structure during construction.

Where does it stand now? 

A contract was awarded in February 2008.  Work is underway.

What happens next? 

Completion is expected this fall.
