1. Construction in 2009 of 'Shared 4-Lane' on Route 5-North
• Build alternating passing lanes, or 'Shared 4-Lane': 18 miles between Lebanon and Route 7 south of Camdenton
• Work on “Shared 4-Lane” under way in 2008 in Camden County
• Laclede County portion expected to begin in early 2009
• Cost estimate: $44 million for Camden and Laclede County segments together
• Completion: scheduled for mid-2010 for entire 18 miles in Camden and Laclede counties
2. Traffic Signal installation in 2009 at Route 5 and Laclede Co. Route YY
• All four legs of intersection will have left-turn lanes at the signal
• Northbound Route 5 will have two through lanes
• Southbound Route 5 will have one through lane and a right-turn lane to Harris Lane (until Route 5 is five-laned and the right-turn lane becomes a second through lane)
• Route YY approach widened to three lanes to match three lanes on Harris Lane
• Construction expected to begin in early 2009
• Estimated cost: $500,000
• Completion: late 2009
3. Five-lane Route 5 between Route 64 and Greenfield Road in 2010
(tentative)*
• Two through-lanes in each direction and a center-turn lane
• Includes dual left-turn lanes for southbound Route 5 at intersection with Jefferson Avenue, Route 64 and 7th Street
• Overhead signs on southbound Route 5 will shift southbound tractor-trailer rigs to right- hand lane before making the left turn onto Jefferson Avenue/Route 5
• Turning radius widened on all four corners of the intersection of Jefferson Avenue/Route 5/Route 64/7th Street
• Estimated cost: $4.3 million
• Estimated completion: 2011
* CAUTION: Route 5-North five-lane project and many other MoDOT projects around Missouri will be postponed if severe federal and state funding shortages occur in 2009-2010.
