Christian County

Construction Projects -

Route 65/14 Interchange Reconstruction:  Ozark (Christian County)

Crews will begin pouring concrete to widen Route 14 on the south side west of the Route 65 bridge. 

Twenty-first Street is scheduled to be closed for two days sometime during the week to allow crews to pour concrete for the street approaching Route 14.  Drivers will have to use 20th Street to get around the closing.  Once 21st Street is completed, crews will close 20th Street to rebuild the approach.  Twenty-second Street is closed to allow crews to build the approach to Route 14.

Eastbound Route 14 traffic is shifted to the center-turn lane between 22nd Street and Route 65.  Traffic also is shifted to the north on the Route 14 bridge over Route 65.

Drivers can expect large dump trucks moving through the interchange at night.  Crews are hauling dirt to the ends of the Route 14 bridge over Route 65.  The trucks will enter and leave work areas with traffic.

A box culvert is being installed on the north side of Route 14 near 22nd Street – AWAY from traffic.

Be alert and watch for construction vehicles.

The work is part of a project to widen Route 14 to five-lanes between 16th and 22nd Streets, widen the Route 14 bridge over Route 65, widen the ramps at the interchange to provide additional turn lanes and build new sidewalks, storm drains and concrete islands.

Scheduled completion: November 2009.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Ozark and Clever will replace signs along Routes N, O, V and AA.  The sign-replacement work will mean one-lane traffic in various locations and a stop-and-go operation.

Dallas County

Construction Projects -

Route 65 Widening: Fair Grove to Dallas County Route EE (Greene/Dallas counties)

Contractor crews may blast rock at times along Route 65 south of the Pomme de Terre River in Greene County. When blasting occurs, Route 65 traffic will be slowed and possibly stopped just prior to the blast and could remain stopped for up to 10 minutes.

Crews are paving the new southbound lanes of Route 65.  During the paving operation, drivers should be alert for equipment entering and leaving work areas. 

Work on the new Pomme de Terre River bridge north of Fair Grove is nearing completion.

Crews will build shoulders on the north end of the project and grade dirt on the south end.

The work is part of a project to widen Route 65 to four lanes between Route 125/CC at Fair Grove and Dallas County Route EE.  New intersections will be built at Dallas County Route AA, Route 215/Dallas County Route OO, Route 38/Dallas County Route TT and Dallas County Route EE.  Project completion: December 2009.

Route 65 Widening and Relocation: Dallas County Route EE near Foose to Truman Road in Buffalo (Dallas County)

Drivers on Brushy Mountain Road and Kelly Road will be stopped occasionally to allow contractor crews to blast rock.  The traffic stops should be very brief.

Contractor crews will grade and haul rock and dirt across Golf Course Road.  Flaggers may stop traffic at times to allow trucks to cross.  Large box culverts are being installed in areas – AWAY from traffic.

Golf Course Road traffic is shifted to a temporary bypass.

The Route 65 widening and relocation project will widen the road to four lanes between Dallas County Route EE and Truman Road in Buffalo.  The road will be relocated to the west of the existing highway.  New intersections will be built at existing Route 65 near Truman Road as well as at Neill Road, Kelly Road, Golf Course Road and Barnes Lane.

Scheduled completion: July 2010.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Buffalo will patch, mow and repair and replace signs along various routes.

Crew members from Plad will mow Routes 64 and 73.

Walnut Grove crews will mow state routes in the Buffalo area.

Greene County

Construction Projects -

Kearney Street Widening (Route 744): Springfield (Greene County)

HEADS UP: Kearney Street is scheduled to be closed to traffic between Eastgate Avenue and LeCompte Road the weekend of December 6.  Crews will install a box culvert across the road.  Traffic will have to find an alternate route around the closing.

Utility lines will be relocated on both sides of Kearney Street between Route 65 and the LeCompte Road – away from traffic. 

Crews will pour concrete to widen Kearney Street on the south side of the road between Route 65 and the entrance to Springfield Underground.

Storm drains will be installed on the north side of Kearney Street near LeCompte Road.

The work is part of a project to widen Kearney Street to five lanes between Route 65 and LeCompte Road, rehabilitate the Kearney Street bridge over Route 65 and widen the eastbound lanes of Kearney Street between Mayfair Avenue and Route 65.

Project completion: July 2009.

Northbound Route 13 Lane Relocation:  North of Springfield (Greene County)

Work on the project will be limited until temperatures are warm enough to allow crews to continue paving the new northbound lanes of Route 13. 

Contractor crews may do some dirt work along the new northbound Route 13 lanes – AWAY from traffic.

All of the crossovers along Route 13 are open to traffic.  However, drivers may have to travel over gravel until the crossovers can be paved later in the project.

The work is part of a project to relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 between Pinewood Drive (south of Farm Road 48) and Farm Road 6.  The new lanes will parallel the southbound lanes.

Scheduled completion: June 2009.

Route 60/Glenstone Avenue Interchange:  Springfield (Greene County)

One northbound and one southbound lane on Glenstone Avenue over Route 60 will be closed.  Crews will build a new concrete median on the bridge between the westbound ramps and Old Glenstone Avenue.

Crews will work on traffic signals and street lighting at various locations on the project.

Republic Road is open to traffic.  The new eastbound Route 60 off-ramp and on-ramp are now open.

Drivers traveling south on Glenstone Avenue who need to travel east on Route 60 must be in the right-hand lane to access the eastbound on-ramp.

The work scheduled is part of a project to rebuild and relocate the eastbound Route 60 ramps, raise and widen Republic Road to five lanes and build a new intersection at Republic Road/Harvard Avenue/Route 60 eastbound ramps. 

Project nearing completion. 

Route 266 Relocation/Airport Boulevard Construction - west of Springfield (Greene County)

Nighttime lane closings are possible on I-44 underneath Route 266 if temperatures are warm enough.  Crews will paint bridge girders.  During the nighttime lane closings, I-44 traffic will be routed over the ramps at the interchange.

Drivers on Route 266 are shifted to a temporary bypass on the west end of the project.  Contractor crews have completed paving of the new section of Route 266 between Farm Road 107 and Chestnut Expressway and will begin work on a concrete median.

Haseltine Road traffic north of Route 266 is shifted to the new roadway.  The shift to the section of roadway is needed to allow crews to relocate Route 266.

Greene County Farm Road 124 is open at the new round-about at Route EE. Route EE traffic is now using the round-about. Crews will build ditches and install new road signs around the round-about.

Traffic on the Route 266 bridge over I-44 is reduced to one lane in each direction on the westbound side. 

Crews will begin paving the new Airport Boulevard, beginning at Route 266 and traveling north – AWAY from traffic.

Farm Road 107 (Kaylor Road) is closed to traffic.  The new Airport Boulevard will parallel old Farm Road 107 between Route 266 and Route EE. 

         

The project involves building Airport Boulevard between Route 266 and the new Springfield-Branson National Airport terminal, building a new round-about at the intersection of Airport Boulevard, Route EE and Farm Road 124, relocating Route 266 to the north of the existing roadway and rehabilitating the Route 266 (Chestnut Expressway) bridge over I-44. 

Scheduled completion: December 2008.

Route 65 Widening: between Springfield and Fair Grove (Greene County)

The Route 65 median crossings at Greene County Route KK/A and Route AA/C are open to traffic.

Lane closings are possible on Route 65 in either direction to allow crews to finish striping in areas. Crews will finish work on the project.

The speed limit on Route 65 is reduced to 55 mph where crews are working. 

The work is part of a project to widen Route 65 to four lanes between Springfield and Fair Grove and build new crossovers at intersections with state routes and Bluegrass Road. 

Project nearing completion.

Roadway Maintenance -

Sunshine crew members will repair the pavement in one northbound lane of Kansas Expressway between Chestnut Expressway and Division Street.

Crew members from Springfield and Sunshine will repair a storm grate on Glenstone Avenue north of Chestnut Expressway.  Crew members from Springfield will mow Routes 125 and YY.

Republic crew members will repair shoulders along Route 174 and repair and replace signs along various routes.

Hickory County

Construction Projects -

Route 54 Resurfacing: Weaubleau to Wheatland (Hickory County)

All of the asphalt resurfacing has been completed.

Crews will grade dirt along ditches, lay asphalt at driveways and apply pavement stripes and rumble strips.  Drivers can expect lane closings and a slow-moving operation in areas on Route 54 between Preston and Hermitage. 

The project involves building and paving shoulders and resurfacing Route 54 between the St. Clair/Hickory county line west of Weaubleau and Preston.  

Scheduled completion:  early December.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Wheatland will mow Routes 54 and 83.

Preston crew members will mow Route 54, patch potholes and repair approaches along various routes.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Conway will patch the pavement in one westbound lane of I-44 at Mile Marker 118.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Gainesville will mow Routes P and OO.

Dora crew members will repair roadway edges and spray herbicides to control weeds along various routes.

Polk County

Route 13 Northbound Lane Relocation: South of Bolivar (Polk County)

Contractor crews will clear trees and brush and begin grading dirt at the south end of the project near the Greene/Polk county line.  The work will take place AWAY from traffic.

The project will relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 alongside the existing southbound lanes between the Greene/Polk county line and 490th Road in Polk County.

Project completion: June 2010.

Roadway Maintenance -

Crew members from Bolivar will repair eroded areas in the median on Route 13 north of Route 32 and patch potholes on Route 13 south Bolivar. 

Crew members from Walnut Grove will mow state routes in the Bolivar area.

Humansville crew members will mow Routes 83, B, BB and PP.

Roadway Maintenance -

Galena and Clever crews will mow along Routes 76, 173, 248, Y and HH.

Crew members from Branson, Lampe and Galena will replace signs along Route 265 between Routes 76 and 165 and along Route 76 between Forsyth and Branson.  The sign-replacement work will mean one-lane traffic in various locations and a stop-and-go operation.

Route 60 Diamond-Grinding/Resurfacing: Cabool to Cedar Gap (Texas/Wright Counties)

Lane closings are possible in various locations in either direction on Route 60.
