Roadway Maintenance -

  • Vanzant area:  Repair roadway edges on Route 95
  • Mountain Grove area:  Seal Route ZZ bridges at Fox Creek with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stopped for up to 20 minutes
  • Drury area:  Patch Routes W and AC
  • Squires area:  Repair roadway edges on Route 5; wash bridges on various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers

Greene County

Construction Projects -

Route 60/65 Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Building concrete forms and pouring concrete for future bridge deck pours for the eastbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 “flyover” ramp
  • Setting bridge deck panels for the eastbound Route 60 ramps west of Route 65 near the railroad tracks
  • Paving in various locations around the project
  • Paving the new westbound Route 60 auxiliary lane between Route 65 and Glenstone Avenue

Traffic Impacts:

  • Northbound Route 65 traffic shifted to the median south of Route 60. Also, northbound Route 65-to-eastbound Route 60 ramp entrance moved to the south. Speed limit reduced to 45 mph.
  • Nighttime ramp and lane closings possible throughout week for bridge work and equipment moves
  • Dump trucks and other equipment entering and leaving work areas
  • Traffic shifted and driving lanes narrowed on Route 65 and Route 60
  • Work zone speed limit: 60 mph
  • Work zone speed limit when ramps or lanes are closed: 45 mph

Trail Impacts:

  • James River Greenway Trail is closed south of Route 60 to Brunswick Avenue on the east side of Route 65.  The trail will be closed indefinitely to allow crews to build two new flyover ramps and complete other bridge work on Route 60 east of Route 65.  
  • Galloway Creek Greenway trail is closed at Route 60 near the railroad tracks. Trail access at that point will be closed indefinitely.

Project Background:

  • Build directional, "flyover" ramps to eliminate a tight conflict point on the existing northbound                    Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Build new bridges over the railroad tracks on Route 60
  • Replace the northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and the westbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Widen the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Install new highway lighting.
  • Project completion: October 2012.      

Route 65 Six-Laning Project:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Excavating for bridge footings and hauling in dirt for bridge ends at northbound Route 65 railroad bridge south of Chestnut Expressway
  • Paving in median in areas between Route 60 and Division Street
  • Building bridges in median at railroad tracks south of Kearney Street and at Catalpa Street

Traffic Impacts:

  • ROAD CLOSING: Catalpa Street closed underneath Route 65.  Road closed until late November.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT: Northbound Route 65 traffic shifted to median at new railroad bridge south of Chestnut Expressway.  Northbound speed limit reduced to 50 mph.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT: Both northbound and southbound traffic shifted to right at railroad bridges south of Kearney Street and at Catalpa Street. Southbound traffic shifted to right at railroad bridge south of Chestnut Expressway.
  • Nighttime lane closings where crews are working. Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday
  • Speed limit in work zones: 50 mph when crews present and when hazards exist in median
Project Background:
  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes, with lanes added in median
  • Rebuild and widen railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Rehabilitate and widen railroad bridges between Division and Kearney streets
  • Widen bridges at Chestnut Expressway and Catalpa Street
  • Project completion: October 2011.

I-44 Bridge Rehabilitation/Resurfacing:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Resurfacing I-44 between Route 65 and Kansas Expressway
  • Sealing the shoulders along I-44 between Route 65 and Kansas Expressway

Traffic Impacts:

  • NIGHT WORK: Lane closings on I-44 between Route 65 and Kansas Expressway and ramps at interchanges closed at times. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
  • Work zone speed limit at bridges: 50 mph

Project Background:

  • Rehabilitate I-44 bridges over National, Grant and Broadway avenues
  • Repair pavement on I-44 between Kansas Expressway (Route 13) and Route 65
  • Resurface I-44 between Kansas Expressway (Route 13) and Route 65
  • Project completion: August 2011.

Route 125 at James River Bridge Replacement: East of Springfield (Greene County)

  • Pouring concrete to build bridge columns and caps

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route 125 CLOSED at the James River until November 1. 
  • Detour route: Greene County Route D (East Sunshine Street), Route 65 and Greene County Route YY (East Division Street)
  • Drivers have access to roads and driveways north of Route D and south of Route YY

Project Information:

  • Replace bridge
  • Rebuild 600 feet of pavement on either end of the bridge
  • Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Project
  • Project completion: Nov. 1, 2010.

Route D Bridge Rehabilitation at Pearson Creek and BNSF Railroad: East of Springfield (Greene County)

  • Removing and repairing sections of the bridge decks behind concrete barrier walls

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic shifted to the north side of the bridges
  • Two lanes open during daytime hours.  Lanes narrowed to 9-1/2 feet each
  • One-lane traffic possible at night when needed. Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Speed limit on Route D is reduced to 45 mph in work zone

Project Information:

  • Rehabilitating Pearson Creek bridge
  • Replacing bridge deck on Burlington Northern-Santa Fe bridge
  • Project completion: Dec. 1, 2010

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Springfield area:  Patch potholes on I-44 at Route 744 east of Springfield.  Work hours:  6 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday to 2:30 a.m. on Friday.
  • Repair curbs on Kansas Expressway (Route 13) at Mount Vernon Street and at Grand Street
  • Springfield/Rogersville area:  Repair pavement on Route 60
  • Republic area:  Repair pavement on Route 174 between Lawrence-Greene county line and Republic
  • Fair Grove area:  Patch Routes A and AF
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers

Hickory County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Wheatland area:  Clean out culverts on state routes
  • Preston area:  Replace drainage pipes on state routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Laclede County

Construction Projects -

Route 5 Widening:  Route 64 to Greenfield Road in Lebanon (Laclede County)

  • Pouring concrete for new curb and gutter along Route 5 between Greenfield Road and Route YY
  • Applying pavement stripes in various locations
  • Working on new traffic signals in various locations

Traffic Impacts:

  • One southbound lane closed between Greenfield Road and Route YY
  • Entrances could be narrowed or closed in some areas where crews are paving, but drivers will have access to homes, streets and businesses

Project Information:

  • Widen Route 5 to five lanes, two through lanes in each direction with a continuous center turn lane
  • Add a second left-turn lane for southbound Route 5 traffic at intersection of Route 5/Jefferson Avenue/Route 64/Seventh Street
  • Resurface the intersection of Route 5 and Route 64 to eliminate rutted pavement
  • Modify traffic signals on Route 5 at Route 64 and at Brice Street
  • Build new sidewalks and modify storm drains in areas.
  • Project completion: November 2010.

Route 5 “Shared 4-Lane” (Alternating Passing Lanes):   Camden/Laclede county line to Greenfield Road (Laclede County)

  • Paving along the southbound lane of Route 5 in areas between the Camden County line and the north edge of Lebanon
  • Driveway entrances, county road approaches and state road approaches may be CLOSED for up to 24 hours at times
  • Laying asphalt for shoulders along the new Route 5 in Camden County

Traffic Impacts:

  • One-lane traffic on Route 5 'round the clock. Drivers can expect traffic delays.
  • Route 5 traffic shifted to temporary bypass at Camden/Laclede county line
  • Speed limit on temporary bypass: 45 mph

Project Information:

  • Build alternating passing lanes
  • Project completion: December 2010.

I-44 Resurfacing:  Conway/Phillipsburg/Lebanon areas:  (Laclede County)

  • Resurfacing eastbound lanes between Laclede County Route J/Y at Conway and Route 5 at Lebanon (Mile Markers 113-129)

Traffic Impacts:

  • NIGHT WORK: One eastbound lane closed in areas.  Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Project Information:

  • Resurfacing the eastbound lanes of I-44.  Mile Markers 113-129.
  • Project completion: December 2010.

  • Lebanon area:  Repair roadway edges and entrances on Route 32 and other state routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Ozark County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Wasola/Romance area:  Repair roadway edges on Route 5; Patch Route Z
  • Gainesville area:  Mow Route 160 in city limits of Gainesville
  • Dora area:  Patch Route AC
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Polk County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Bolivar/Eudora/Fair Play/Halfway/Humansville area:  Seal bridges on state routes
  • Eudora area:  Replace drain pipes on Route 123
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Stone County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Reeds Spring:  Clean out drainage ditches on Route 413
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Taney County

Construction Projects -

Lake Taneycomo Bridge Project: Route 76/Bus. 65, Branson/Hollister (Taney County)

  • Pouring concrete for sections of bridge deck on the new Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Building a retaining wall, grading dirt and installing road signs for the new round-about east of Lake Taneycomo along Route 76/Business 65

Traffic/Lake Impacts:

  • One-lane traffic at times on Route 76/Bus. 65 on east side of lake during nighttime hours
  • Lake Taneycomo boat traffic stopped or diverted toward shore during bridge work
  • Work zone speed limit 25 mph

Project Information:

  • Build a new Lake Taneycomo bridge, connecting Branson and Hollister
  • Rehabilitate the existing Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Build an oval “round-about” on the east side of Lake Taneycomo connecting the two    bridges with Route 76/Business 65
  • Project completion: December 2011.

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Branson area:  Patch Routes 160, 176, 465 and F
  • Bradleyville/Rueter area:  Wash bridges on various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Webster County

Construction Projects -

Webster County Route B/VV at Route 60 Intersection Widening:  Rogersville (Webster County)

  • Cleaning up around project
  • Preparing areas for new traffic signals

Traffic Impacts:

  • STREET OPEN: Redbud Street south of Route 60 REOPENED to traffic at Route VV.  Drivers can no longer turn left from Redbud Street onto Route VV.  
  • Most work will take place AWAY from traffic
  • Nighttime lane closings possible.  Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Equipment entering and leaving work areas

Project Information:

  • Widen Routes B and VV to build left-turn lanesBuild new right-turn lane on Route B from Route 60 into Logan-Rogersville Upper Elementary SchoolRelocate south school entrance to line up with Cedar StreetBuild left-turn lanes on Route B into Cedar Street and school entranceInstall new traffic signals at Routes B/VV and Route 60 intersection

Wright County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Mountain Grove area:  Repair roadway edges on Route 95
  • Hartville/Manes/Mountain Grove areas:  Mow state routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Texas County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Mountain Grove area:  Seal Route MM bridge over Route 60 at Dunn with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stopped for up to 20 minutes.
